This is a WONDERFUL dental office! I went for an Orthodontist consultation with Dr. Copeland after having been to a different Orthodontist who told me that I needed corrective jaw surgery to fix my teeth. Dr. Copeland assured me it wasn’t necessary and laid out a plan for me to get my teeth fixed — surgery free! He was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his work and caring for his patients. I would HIGHLY recommend Village Dental to anyone looking for Orthodontist help or any dental needs!
Getting your teeth properly aligned is more than just a matter of aesthetics. Teeth that are not coming in properly, or a bite that doesn’t fully close can cause problems down the road. It’s important to see the Orthodontist early in life, as problems are generally easier and faster to treat at a younger age.

Advanced X-Rays Allow Accurate Assessment
Our orthodontist will take a special x-ray (called a cephalometric x-ray), along with impressions and photographs. Together, these are used to decide which orthodontic treatment is best suited to your case — aligners or traditional braces.

I’ve had a lot of surgery done at Village Dental. I had implants done; I’ve had a lot of issues with my mouth due to family history and Dr. Christian is very caring. She’s very personal and it really helps when dealing with the challenges I have with my mouth. Putting your heart into it and being personalized also helps people recover from what they’re going through.

FAQs about Dental Implants: Smile Brighter with Expert Orthodontic Care
1. What is orthodontics and how can it benefit me?
Orthodontics is a dental specialty that focuses on diagnosing, preventing, and treating dental and facial irregularities. The primary benefit of orthodontic treatment is the alignment of teeth and jaws, leading to improved oral health, enhanced aesthetics, and increased self-confidence. Properly aligned teeth can also make it easier to maintain good oral hygiene and can reduce the risk of tooth decay and gum disease.
2. At what age should I visit an orthodontist?
While the Canadian Dental Association recommends that children have their first orthodontic evaluation around age 7, it’s never too late to seek orthodontic treatment. Adults can also benefit from orthodontic procedures. The right age for treatment can vary based on individual circumstances, so it’s best to consult with an orthodontic professional to determine the optimal time for you or your child.
3. What are the different types of braces available?
There are several types of braces available, including traditional metal braces, ceramic (tooth-coloured) braces, lingual braces (which are placed on the back of the teeth), and clear aligners such as Invisalign. Each option has its pros and cons, including aesthetics, comfort, and cost. Your orthodontist can help you choose the best type for your needs and lifestyle.
4. How long will my orthodontic treatment take?
The duration of orthodontic treatment varies depending on individual needs and the complexity of the case. Typically, treatment can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. Your orthodontist will provide a more accurate estimate after a thorough examination and developing a personalized treatment plan.
5. Is orthodontic treatment painful?
Most patients experience some discomfort or pressure during the initial adjustment phase after getting braces or clear aligners, but this usually subsides within a few days. Over-the-counter pain relief can help alleviate any discomfort. Your orthodontist will provide detailed instructions on how to manage any potential pain throughout your treatment.
6. How do I take care of my braces or aligners?
Maintaining good oral hygiene is crucial during orthodontic treatment. For those with braces, it’s important to brush and floss regularly, avoiding sticky or hard foods that could damage the appliances. If you’re using clear aligners, you should remove them while eating and brush your teeth before reinserting them. Regular visits to your orthodontist for adjustments and check-ups are also vital to ensure your treatment progresses smoothly.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do orthodontic braces improve oral health?

Can adults get orthodontic treatment too?
Adults can indeed receive orthodontic treatment. Many options, including braces and clear aligners, are available to improve dental alignment and aesthetics, making it a viable choice for individuals at any age seeking a healthier smile.
What is the difference between metal and clear braces?
The difference between metal and clear braces lies in their materials and aesthetics. Metal braces are made of stainless steel and are more visible, while clear braces, often made of ceramic, blend with the teeth for a more discreet look.
Are orthodontic treatments painful or uncomfortable?
Orthodontic treatments can involve some discomfort, particularly after adjustments, but any pain is typically mild and temporary. Your comfort is our priority, and we will ensure you have the necessary support throughout your treatment.
What is the purpose of dental orthodontics treatment?
The purpose of dental orthodontics treatment is to correct misaligned teeth and jaws, improving both functionality and aesthetics. This ensures better oral health, enhances confidence, and promotes a more harmonious bite, leading to overall improved dental wellness.

Orthodontics can greatly enhance the appearance of your smile. By correcting misalignments and crowding, orthodontic treatments improve tooth alignment, leading to a more aesthetically pleasing and confident smile.
What age is best for orthodontic treatment?
The best age for orthodontic treatment typically ranges from 9 to 14 years old, as it allows for effective intervention during the growth phase. Early assessment helps address dental issues before they become more complex.
How do braces correct teeth misalignment?
Braces correct teeth misalignment by applying consistent pressure to the teeth over time, gradually shifting them into their proper positions. This process improves alignment, enhances bite functionality, and contributes to overall oral health.
Are there options for invisible braces?
There are several options for invisible braces available. At Village Dental Group, we offer clear aligners and ceramic braces, both designed to discreetly straighten teeth while enhancing your smile.
What foods should I avoid with braces?

The frequency of visits to your orthodontist is important for effective treatment. Typically, you should see your orthodontist every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on your specific treatment plan and progress.
Can orthodontics help with jaw pain?
Orthodontics can alleviate jaw pain. By realigning teeth and improving bite function, orthodontic treatment helps reduce strain on the jaw muscles and joints, providing significant relief from discomfort and preventing future issues.
What happens during the initial orthodontic consultation?
The initial orthodontic consultation involves a comprehensive examination of your teeth and jaws, x-rays if needed, and a discussion of your dental goals. This helps the orthodontist develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

What factors influence the cost of braces?
The cost of braces is influenced by several factors, including the type of braces chosen, the complexity of the treatment required, the duration of the treatment, and the expertise of the orthodontist.
