dentist south orange njDr. Zhu Cosmetic Dentistry
Dr.Zhu’s love of dentistry started by complete chance: as a high school senior, she was searching for a summer job and saw an ad posted in her guidance counselor’s office. The ad was for a local dental office looking for summer help. She ended up working for two summers as a dental assistant in that office. The third summer, she decided to stay at college and do research, and after that one lonely summer of working with mice, she realized how much she missed working with people in a dental office and vowed to go back. After completing her undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University (graduating cum laude with a major in biomedical engineering and minors in English and Biology), she continued her studies and graduated from Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine. The following year, she completed a general practice dental residency from Jacobi Medical Center where she worked on a variety of cases ranging from special needs patients to facial trauma in the ER. Dr.Zhu worked for a number of years in Manhattan until she had her first baby, at which time she joined the usual mass migration out to the ‘burbs. These days when she’s not in the office, she and her circus of three little boys can be seen around South Orange, either on the various playgrounds, the library, or the town pool.

Health and wellness has always played an important role in my life. Before joining the team at Village Dental Group I owned online health and wellness store and co-authored an e-book on the health benefits of weight training. My position as patient liaison affords me a great opportunity to welcome new patients to the practice as well as reminding our valued friends of upcoming appointments.
I joined Village Dental in February 2015 so that I could be part of a team committed to providing the highest level of dental care and wellness to our patients.

I joined Village Dental group in February 2011. Working in the dental field has been a great experience for me. I look forward to coming to work as I welcome new and interesting people at the office every day. It’s such a joy to be part of a team that helps patients in so many different ways. It’s sometimes troubling to see a patient arrive for an emergency in pain, but it is great experience to watch our doctors and staff work together to return them to great oral health. I consider it a privilege to serve our community as part of the Village Dental Team.

dentist south orangeYajaira -Dental Assistant
I graduated from the American Institute as a Certified Dental Assistant. General Dentistry is innovative and has had a significant change through out the years. The new ideas and advancement with oral restoration and health really inspire me, which is one of main reasons why I chose this field. Aside from that, I also enjoy dentistry because I can witness the difference I’m actually making in people’s lives. It fills me with joy to see people smile and know that I put the effort into that person’s smile.
