How to Have a Great Experience

smiling woman at table with tablet, reading patient information
1. Provide us with a complete and up-to-date medical history.

Infections, medications, and certain conditions can affect the outcome of treatment or if you can be treated.  If you take Coumadin, your physician will have to stop this medication for certain types of treatment.  If you take a lot of medications, have your physican’s office copy the list and the conditions for us.

2. The night before, set out your medications so you’ll remember to take them.

If you have certain types of heart conditions or shunts in your body, you will need to be premedicated prior to treatment.  This also includes rods or pins, knee replacements, and stents. If you don’t have a prescription, call and let us know and we will call it in for you. This has to be taken 1 hour before your appointment. Do not forget to take your blood pressure medication before your visit — and EAT.

3. Allow extra time for travel and paperwork.

Being on time is good for your nerves and gives us the necessary time to carry out your treatment.  Sometimes we may need to contact your physicain for additional information. Call if you are running late.

4. Become familiar with your Dental Insurance.

Dental insurance is a third-party payer that can assist you in paying for treatment. However, our obligation is to you and what is best for your dental health, which may not be covered. We will try to get as much information from them as we can, however you can also get information about your plan from the carrier and your employer.

5. Have an idea about what you would like to accomplish.

Assess your priorities for your dental health, for example: staying healthy, havng a great smile, increasing self-esteem. Be specific about how you feel about your oral health as a factor in social or personal situations. We’ll be on the same page and you’ll feel better about your visit, the treatment, and us.

6. Ask Questions!  An educated patient is the best patient!

There is no such thing as a stupid question. We have lots of information for you, but we can only pass on what we think you need. If you don’t understand your treatment, you shouldn’t be getting it. Educate yourself about it. We have pictures, videos, brochures, and some of our patients would be happy to talk to you about similar procedures. An educated patient is the best patient!

7. Be comfortable about your treatment.

You have to live with your treatment and be happy with the results. The most appropriate treatment, or the treatment you want, may not be covered by your dental insurance. Sometimes treatment or payment can be phased over time, allowing you to get the dental work you really prefer or need.

Ask Away! You’ll Get All Your Questions Answered.

Our Patients Share the Love!

I’ve had a lot of surgery done at Village Dental. I had implants done; I’ve had a lot of issues with my mouth due to family history and Dr. Christian is very caring. She’s very personal and it really helps when dealing with the challenges I have with my mouth. Putting your heart into it and being personalized also helps people recover from what they’re going through.

—Mrs. Frederick

It’s a blessing to have found such a fantastic dental practice — not only are they excellent doctors, and dental hygienists — but also the staff are welcoming, and the atmosphere makes you feel at ease. I’ve never had such a good experience at the dentist before. Do yourself a kindness and book an appointment with Village Dental!
